Please note that there may be fees other than attorney fees associated with these services. However, these fees cannot be known without first discussing the matter with the client. Although this list is not exhaustive, before any work is begun I will provide an estimate that will include the total amount due for any project including: attorney fees; government fees; figure drafting fees; or any other costs associated with the work.
Generally, the client is required to pay one-half of the estimated costs prior to beginning work, with the other half due after a final draft is produced, but before anything is filed with the USPTO. If the client so chooses, he/she can cancel any project at any time by providing written notice. Any work completed on the project will be billed to the client at the hourly rate for time worked up to, but not exceeding, the fixed fee cost for the project. If the client cancels within ten (10) days prior to the date on which a project is scheduled to begin, they are subject to a ten (10) percent cancellation fee (i.e., ten (10) percent of the attorney fees that would have been charged, exclusive of additional costs and any filing fees). If the client cancels within two (2) days prior to the date on which a project is scheduled to begin, they are subject to a twenty (20) percent cancellation fee (i.e., twenty (20) percent of the attorney fees that would have been charged, exclusive of additional costs and any filing fees).
My hourly rate effective through 2024 is $300.00 per hour. Most work is done on a fixed fee basis; however, work that cannot be done on a fixed fee basis will be charged at the hourly rate.
Expedited work will be charged an additional twenty (20) percent or $500, whichever is greater. It is firm policy to work on projects for clients on a first come, first served basis depending on when they either authorize the work OR pay the necessary retainer. Occasionally, clients request that I work on a particular project earlier than it would otherwise be worked on. This includes cases in which the client informs me of a due date which is approaching and taking the work in order would result in missing the deadline. In such cases, expediting the work will be done at my sole discretion.
